Nottingham Forest join Crystal Palace in transfer battle for Atletico Madrid star
Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace have both enquired about Atletico Madrid defender Reinildo Mandava who will be available on a free transfer this summer. The 31-year-old Mozambique international's current deal at the Wanda Metropolitano expires on June 30, but he has signed a temporary extension to feature at the FIFA Club World Cup.

Mandava has featured regularly for Atletico following his arrival at the club from Lille in January 2022, but has been on the fringes of their team in recent months, with him making the bench in his side’s last nine La Liga matches. He was a member of the Lille team that won the French title in 2021 and was named to the Ligue 1 Team of The Year. Both Forest and Palace need to add to their squad as they prepare to play in Europe next season, and Mandava’s ability to play left-back and centre-back as the left-sided of a three-man central defence has made him a target. But the battle to secure his services remains open, with clubs across Spain, Italy, France, Portugal, Turkey and Saudi Arabia also competing for his signature.
